The boho-style is alive: Try it!
No matter how much we like or dislike the style of a certain time, in fashion eventually everything comes back. For decades trends disappear from the scene and then they suddenly celebrate a big comeback. The bohemian style as we know it today is the rediscovery of a trend that happend way more than a couple of decades ago: It is based on the style of the art movement of the 19th century. Of course it is influenced by modern trends now, but one thing remained certainly the same. Also today the look is sure not inconspicuous!
What comes first to mind when you hear the name Oscar Wilde? Probably some of his most famous novels like “The Picture of Dorian Gray” which became an absolute classic of contemporary literature or “The Importance of Being Earnest”. But also for his way to dress the writer is still known today. His dandy look was chic and effortless, almost careless at the same time. Now exactly that is aboslutely in again. His attitude towards fashion is probably best summarised in an aphorism of Oscar Wilde himself: “Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months”.
Whether he liked it or not, with his practical, yet elegant and outstanding way of dressing Oscar Wilde was a trendsetter for a look that is even popular again today, after more than a century!
Today, the Boho look is especially appreciated by those who want to be well dressed and stand out at the same time. Its main features? Layered look, wider, comfortable clothes and neutral colours (brown, beige and white). Especially popular are garments in structured materials, but also velvet. Of course there are also matching accessories added. This style really leaves room for creativity. Combine them simply depending on your taste and mood!
