Tie-a-tie.net is an American website specialized in the world of the ties. Let’s observe this question from a different perspective , wondering if the way we dress has a direct impact, as far as financial side is concerned. This is actually true. For example, dressing elegant to attend a job interview may raise a better impression on the decision maker, as well as a proper business dress will help giving an air of seriousness and reliability to those who’s wearing it.
It is common knowledge that wearing tailored clothes contributes unequivocally to give an impression of success. Taking into consideration that personal impressions are not quantifiable, whereas numbers are, here is the chart that shows the results of the survey. The blue line, which refers to men wearing tie four or more times a week, has a peak when the annual incomes is between 100’000-149’000 dollars , while the red line, that indicates who wears tie once a week or less shows the peak corresponding to the minimum income ($ 20,000 annually).
It is also interesting to note that the blue line shows another peak in correspondence of the last income zone, indicating that the use of a tie it is not infrequently for less profitable jobs (eg . Employee, driver , security guard, waiter).
Looking on the right side of the graph, we can observe a very curious situation: the “lucky” people who to earn from $ 150’000 a year or more tend to wear less and less ties . Probably this is because , once won a job or such a prestigious position, you are safely allowed to live your days without this accessory!
