Winter Wedding? The best ties for the groom
Getting married in winter can have many advantages and is well worth considering it as an alternative to traditional weddings in spring or fall in any case. But how should the groom dress for a winter wedding, and what tie is most appropriate? We help you to find the perfect outfit for your wedding ceremony in the cold months.
The statistics are not surprising. The preferred months for weddings are May, June and September. The reasons are obvious: In these months the climate is best and the bride can wear her dream dress without risking a cold or having to hide it under a heavy coat.
But it also has its advantages to tie the knot in winter. For one you have a much higher chance to book your desired location for the ceremony and also confectioners and florists are not fully booked like in the summer months. In addition, you can choose an exotic honeymoon destination and escape after the wedding the rain, snow and cold, plus the groom doesn’t get too hot in his suit with the cooler temperatures.
The suit of the groom is of course mainly chosen according to aesthetic criteria. A classic suit in a rich, dark colour for example is simple and timeless. If you want to add a bit of „British Charm“ to your outfit, a frock coat and waistcoat or perhaps a cutaway or an elegant dinner jacket are ideal.
And the tie? With the last two options, we suggest you use a black or white white tie made of a solid material and a cummerbund made of pure silk. If you choose a traditional suit instead, you have more leeway in color, of course .
To a dark suit with a vest choose a tie in a warm colour (pink, orange, yellow …). This also contrasts beautifully with the seasonal colours. Alternatively you can’t go wrong with a classic blue or light blue tie. Just make sure that the colour is not too bright.
For those who want to get married in a true gentleman style, a striped tie adds a touch of elegance and style.
To ensure that your outfit is perfect, for the most beautiful day of your life you can even add a handkerchief or a fresh flower in your suit jacket. However, this detail should then harmonize with the colour of the tie.
